Tres sacrae cantiones

These three sacred songs form part of Gesualdo's "Sacrae Cantiones Liber Secundus", for which the sextus and basses part books were lost and have been reconstructed/completed in modern editions. The most notable of these are these Stravinsky versions. Others are those by Joop Voorn, downloadable from CPDL both as Scores and as playable Files, from here, here and here.

If you know of a Website from which can freely and lawfully be downloaded a printable Vocal score for this Stravinsky version, even though it may not be exactly the same as the one used to make the Midi Files below, please let me know the address.

There seem to be no significant performances of the three songs on YouTube. They have, however, recently been performed by the Choir of Salisbury Cathedral.

The manner in which the Voices are divided and allocated is somewhat different from the modern Sop, Alto, Tenor and Bass arrangement, and not entirely consistent from song to song. The Table below does its best to show them in an appropriate manner, and is much like the way Salisbury sang them. Make sure you pick the right one!
